Issues at Hand
Issues of environmental and human health are present at every stage of a garment’s life-cycle. Beginning with how raw materials are farmed and harvested, to how those materials are processed, to garment production, and then finally the disposal of unwanted garments, each part of the process represents its own impact on the world. With the outsourcing of most of the industry, it is tempting and easy to ignore what goes into making the clothing we wear. Below I offer a small look into common problems in the textile industry, issues which have been exacerbated by our embrace of Fast Fashion.
